My name is Afrina Izzati Binti Wahidin. I am a student who currently studies at University Teknologi Mara Jengka, Pahang. My purpose in doing this e-portfolio is to introduce to all of you the UED 102 which is a study skill that is mostly known using soft skills. This study skills will help us (including myself) to gain more knowledge and improve our soft skills to the next level. This kind of study skills will also help us in the future where we will be using this knowledge to overcome all the challenges in our workplace and life ...

MODULE 1 : GET READY TO LEARN IN A UNIVERSITY
Well, as a university student, obviously there are few preparations that you need to do and know. You need to realize every decision that you make will determine and affect your future. Not only that, but it will also affect the important people around you such as your family. That is why you need to have a sense of responsibility to make sure that you will not regret the decision or path that you choose. Firstly, you need to identify the differences between a high school student and a college or university student.
Differences Between High School And University Student

You will be the one who is going to decide and manage your schedule including your attendance.

It is not a routine that your class will start in the morning and you have no limit at what time you are going to go to bed.

Learning Styles
There are 3 types of basic learning styles that most of the student will use it in their daily life to improve the effectiveness of what they had learned. Every student has their own style and techniques to learn better.



Activity 1
My Learning Style ( Result )
I am a visual learner. I understand and remember things by sight. Usually, I will close my eyes for me to visualize something or to recall back my memories. The second method of learning that can also help me to study better is the auditory method. I like to hear things and I am also a good listener.
Before I did the questionnaires about the learning style, I only used the visual method for my revision or exams but now I am going to combine all three method especially the visual and auditory. I think it is a great combination and it will suit me really well.
Q1. How would you change your learning style ?
- Color code things
- Sit near the front row of the class
- Have your eyesight checked on a regular basis
- Avoid distractions during study times
- Study new material by reading and talking it out loud
MODULE 2 : GOAL SETTING
Definition Of Goal : The object or purpose of the person's ambition and effort mostly known as the desired result.
What Is Goal Setting ?
A process of deciding what you want to accomplish and devising a plan to achieve the result that you desire.
1. To keep you stay focused and give you direction on where you want to end up.
2. To let you finish all your tasks efficiently.

- Relevant : The goal is something you can do in a specific or within the desired time frame.
- Time-Bound : Set your time limit.
What is the definition of Academic and Personal Goals?
Academic goals (short term) refers to something that is related to your work such as a student need to complete their assignment.
Personal goals (long term) refers to something that is related to your own desire that you want to accomplish during your life (yourself).
- Attend all classes and make sure to take notes.
- Be selective in classes.
- Learn to say " no ".
- Keep up with all of your assignments within the due date.
- Manage the time properly.
- Find a good study environment.
- Set realistic grade goals.
- Study for your upcoming exams.
- Do revisions in your free time.
- Learn to predict exam questions.

Q1. Write Down What You Want To Accomplish (Academic + Personal) :
- I want to become the best student in my university which means I want to get all A's in every subject (smart student).
- Makes my family especially my parents proud of me in every single thing I do.
- Get my one and only dream job ( have a good career ).
- To become a better daughter and person in every single way.
- Graduate college with a peaceful mind and surroundings.
- Help a lot of poor people.
- Buy a house and a car with my own money.
- To be respected by the people around me.
- To be surrounded by a lot of people that love me and have good vibes (to make more friends).
Q2. Write Down Any Obstacles :
- Resisting change which means I am afraid / scared to live outside my comfort zone.
- Trying to achieve too many goals at the same time.
- Making too many excuses.
- Procrastination.
- Negative mindset and fail to be consistent with the commitments.
- Too many distractions (too many entertainments).Easily distracted.
- Wasting time such as watching dramas and movies in my free time without limits.
- It cannot or hard to say 'no' to an invitation.
Q3. Write Down Any Resources Available To You :
My family is my main resource. I own them a lot and I promise to myself that one fine day, I am going to gives back everything that I own to them in every single way including love, wealth, respect and more. Hence, I am sure I can overcome any obstacle because of their endless support. I will try my best not to give up whenever the situation gets hard.
My second resource will be my teachers and my friends. I will ask them mostly everything that I do not understand especially about my studies. Moreover, my friends here will eventually be my second family because I will be living with them for a quite long time and we will be for each other on our happy and sad days. Lastly, my teachers are going to be my second parents that will guide, teaches and take care of me while I am studying here.
Q4. Review And Revise Your Tentative Goal Statement :
I will give my best to accomplish what I want in my life.

MODULE 3 : TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION SKILLS

What Is Time?
Time is a measurement of the progression of events from the past to the present and to the future. In the physics world, time is most likely known as the "what a clock reads". Furthermore, in a verb, time is a plan, schedule or arrangement of something / events that should be done. Time Management is the ability of an individual to use one's time effectively and productively.
- Prioritize your things carefully and wisely.
- Stay away from all kinds of distractions.
- Set goals.
- Create an organizing system such as a planner.
- Track your time when you are watching television and playing games.
- Commit to your plan.

What Is Procrastination ?
Procrastination is an action of a person delaying or postponing something / an event.
Why And How to Stop Procrastinate ?
1. Learned to procrastinate from your role models.
How To Stop : Find new role models to mimic and explore or learn the negative consequences from the action of the procrastination.
2. A poor condition such as anxiety and depression.
How To Stop : Get proper treatment and medication from the professionals such as a doctor.
3. Have a bias against a particular type of task.
How To Stop : Open your mind to a bigger perspective and look into a different angle.

MODULE 5 : MEMORY LEARNING, IMPROVING CONCENTRATION AND READING SKILLS
What Is The Definition Of MEMORY ?
The ability of a person to recall back some of the valuable / important information or things that had happened in their everyday life.



Manage Your Memories
- Use and practice the basic learning method such as the visual, audio and kinesthetic method / style.
- Paraphrase the keywords or important information to help you memorize it better.
- A healthy diet ( food pyramid ).
- Repeat what you want to know.
- Use all of your senses.
- Get plenty of sleep.
What Is The Definition Of Concentration ?
Giving all of your attention or focusing on the things that you are doing at the moment. The action and power of focusing all one's attention.
- Stay focused and pay attention.
- Eliminate and stay away from distractions during your study mode.
- Use motivational and Organizational strategies.
